Box

Materials:

A square piece of paper (any size, but 6x6 inches is ideal)

Instructions:

  1. Start with a Square:

Place the square paper with the colored side (if using colored paper) facing up.

  2. Fold in Half Horizontally:

Fold the paper in half horizontally (top edge to bottom edge) and crease well. Unfold.

  3. Fold in Half Vertically:

Fold the paper in half vertically (left edge to right edge) and crease well. Unfold.

  4. Fold All Corners to the Center:

Fold each corner of the square towards the center point, making sure each fold meets exactly at the middle. This creates a smaller square with four flaps.

  5. Fold the Top and Bottom Edges to the Center:

Fold the top edge and the bottom edge of the square towards the center crease, and crease well.

  6. Fold the Sides:

Fold the left and right sides of the paper to the center crease, like you did with the top and bottom edges. Crease well.

  7. Form the Box Walls:

Lifting up the four flaps of paper (they will form the sides of the box), gently fold each flap up along the creases, and then tuck the corners in to secure them in place.

  8. Finish the Box:

Once all sides are folded up, you should have a small box! Gently open the top and bottom to shape the box.

And there you have it – a simple origami box! You can adjust the size of the paper to make different sizes of boxes, and even decorate it as you like.
